Athletes of the Week
For the Week of February 15th – February 21st
Senior Girl - Kaylee HickeyAs we wrap up our hockey season, it was no surprise Kaylee’s leadership shined through last weekend. Kaylee scored goals, blocked shots, and won battles during these past games and was a threat each time she was on the ice. Kaylee’s determination to make an impact is second to none, and it is so much fun to watch her lead on and off the ice. Keep up the great work, Kaylee!

Senior Boy - François Richard:  "I've never run so fast for so long, I felt like I was sprinting, but I felt great the whole time".  François’s winter training is paying dividends.  He was in a great race this past weekend against runners from Saint Mary's, Dalhousie and Saint Francis Xavier, but he ran out of people to pass with 300m to go in this 1500m event.  Not only did François best his competition, he also earned a new personal best by 2 seconds.  This win also moves François to the number one position on the Wall of Payne, displacing Paul Archibald '93.  Impressive results François!

Junior Boy - Tony Ojinere has been a positive spirit and excellent rebounder on the Junior Boys’ Basketball team.  He distributed the ball well, especially “off the glass” starting the fast break. Tony heads off to wrestling after basketball and takes on older athletes with his skill and strength. He most recently wrestled in his first dual meet for the Windsor Mat Kings against much more experienced wrestlers from the Sackville wrestling club with some fine results. Well done, Tony!

Junior Girl - Eva Palov: In our game this week against Wolfville, Eva displayed not only her considerable athleticism, but also her leadership abilities. Despite being up against tough opponents, she never quit and ended up playing the entire game! While she had many great defensive-hustle plays and quality offensive moments, her best came midway through the third quarter when she caught a pass from her point guard and, in perfect rhythm, nailed her first three-pointer of the season - Splash! Eva will be counted on to hit a lot more of those kind of shots as we enter the final stage of our season. When not playing basketball, Eva is engaged with high-performance soccer training. Excellent work, Eva!
