For the Week of October 21st - 27th

Junior Boy - Zane Scott had a great season and has distinguished himself as a capable and tenacious defender. His speed, height and sense of play were a great asset to the team this season. At regionals, Zane did a great job competing with the opposing teams’ offense and could be relied on to win the ball and then coolly redistribute it to his team. Well done, Zane. Thanks for an excellent season.

Junior Girl - Maggie Mills played her best soccer game of the season in last week’s district final versus Horton High. She set the tone early on, scoring a beautiful goal from the outside, and continued to play an aggressive and physical game, offensively leading to the team’s 4-3 win. Maggie’s throw-ins are precise, her corner kicks and shots are brutally powerful, and she is a huge asset to our team. Congratulations, Millsie!

Senior Girl - Emma Coughlan has worked tirelessly since the beginning of the volleyball season, and her abilities shone brightly at the first Senior Girls' varsity home game. Her speed allowed her to make wonderful sets from any position on the court, which allowed her teammates to place the ball strategically over the net. She managed to dig tough attacks from the opposing team while skillfully earning points for KES with her strong spikes. Well done, Emma!

Senior Boy - Over the last weeks, Angus England has worked his tail off. When scores were not in our favor, Angus kept positive, worked harder than anyone else, blocked numerous shots that really hurt, and generally was an awesome team player. While the team has been training off the ice, Angus has led by example pushing his body to the limits, and he continues to finish near the top in many exercises! The coaches hope that this attitude and work ethic rubs off on the rest of the team at future tournaments.

For the Week of October 28th – November 3rd

Junior Boy - Nolan Herritt scored a few key goals during the Tier 2 Regional Championship playoffs, in which our team finished 3rd. He is an example of one of the young players who will move up next year and feed our soccer program. Well done, Nolan.

Junior Girl - Lucy Goddard was an unsung hero on the Junior Girls' Soccer roster. She relentlessly defended the goal and saved the day time and time again. Her patience, speed, footwork, and control on the back line allowed her to precisely clear the ball to her teammates while maintaining possession. Lucy was a Co-Captain of the team, assisted in helping coach the full-backs, and was an experienced teammate who played her heart out in every single game of the season. Lucy’s contributions were a huge part of the team’s success this season. Congratulations, Lucy.

Senior Boy: Our Boys’ Cross Country Running team got off to a great start on our points total with Francois Richard picking up just 6 points for placing 6th among 103 runners in a very competitive and hard-fought race.  Francois was second among Western Region runners, but this time with a much narrower gap over his Western Region rival.  Francois ended the 6 kilometre race with a personal best time. Excellent work, Francois!

Senior Girl - At the recent NSSAF Cross Country Championships, Aria MacDonald made sure that the KES uniform was represented in the lead pack of her 6 kilometer race.  One of the highlights of Aria’s race is that she was very smartly running her own race in 16th after the first kilometer and climbed her way up - way up - as the others faded having gone out too fast.   Aria ended the race with a personal best time, and she crossed the finish line in 8th place of 105 of the fastest runners from across Nova Scotia. Bravo, Aria!
