“Athletes of the Week” (AOW) are selected based on athletic performance and sportsmanship. Positive sporting behaviour is valued at KES and integral to our Athletic Philosophy and School Mission Statement emphasizing gentleness and learning and dignity and respect.

For the Week of September 28th - October 4th
Senior Girl: Jaelyn Keiver had two excellent golf performances on the course this fall. At the Western Regional finals, at Clare Golf Club in the driving rain, Jaelyn posted a score of 44, good enough for a second-place finish and only two back of the leader. At the NSSAF Provincial Championships at the Links at Penn Hills, Jaelyn delivered another solid performance, firing an 85 and taking home the SILVER medal! She accomplished this while working hard on the ice for the Girls’ Hockey team. Congratulations to a very humble, Jaelyn!

Senior Boy: Tanner MacLean had an exceptional weekend at the plate and on the mound. Tanner batted 7 for 12 in 3 games for a whopping .583 batting average. He also pitched 7 strong innings against Holland College, throwing 82 to 83 mph with his fastball, while giving up only 5 hits, 1 run and striking out 6. Well done, Tanner!

For the Week of October 5th – October 11th
Senior Girl: Allie Martin is a Grade 12 veteran and captain of our Senior Girls’ Soccer team. In game one of the 2020 season, played last week at Parkview Education Centre, Allie scored a hat trick including the game winning goal in the last two minutes to earn her team a 4-3 road victory. Two days later, in our KES home opener and the first game of the hometown rivalry series versus Avon View, Allie scored 2 goals and assisted on a couple others in a solid 7-0 win. In both games, Allie was an offensive force and a fantastic leader by example. Congratulations Allie on successfully balancing your academic, hockey, soccer and leadership commitments!

Senior Boy: N/A

The Junior AOW were two of our younger students! Rylan MacInnis and Laura Oulton picked up the honours due to their talents on the soccer pitch.

Rylan scored a penalty kick goal in the Staff versus Students soccer game going “top shelf”. He is a key member of our Junior Boys' Soccer team that begins inter-scholastic competitions this week.

Laura is a integral player on our Junior Girls' Soccer team with solid skills and a great attitude. She can be seen doing cartwheels and hand stands during practice breaks as she is full of positive energy.
