Camryn Kleynhans Commits to StFX Rugby

large_news1311838_1329183After receiving interest from numerous university rugby programmes across the country, Grade 12 student and rugby co-captain Camryn Kleynhans recently accepted an offer to continue her athletic and academic pursuits at St. Francis Xavier University next year. Camryn, originally from South Africa, came to King’s-Edgehill in Grade 9 having never played rugby before. In just a few short years, however, she made a name for herself as one of the most skilled players in the province. Named to multiple age-grade provincial teams for both 15s and 7s, Camryn was most recently named to the U-18 Canada East Team which competed against USA East earlier this year in Ontario.

StFX’s women’s rugby coach, Mike Cavanagh, who has led his team to 6 national championships, was pleased with Camryn’s decision and commented, We are very excited to have Camryn join the X-Women’s Rugby Program. Camryn is one of the top recruits in the country and will make an immediate impact on our program. I look forward to working with Camryn and helping her become the best rugby player she can be.”

Camryn will be registered for the Human Kinetics program at StFX and will follow in the footsteps of former KES alumnae Jill Payne (2002), Emma Taylor (2010), Catherine Rutledge (2014), Abena Danquah (2014), and Lucy Killacky (2015) who all played for the X-Women.
