One month from now, KES thespians, pit musicians, technicians and crew will be presenting the popular musical, Chicago High School Edition. In the meantime, there are lots of rehearsals and preparations going on, lots! I love the image of the iceburg, The Show/The Rehearsal; it is an absolute visual analogy of mounting any production. Think of it: these students are having to memorize what to say and sing harmonies in tune, know where to be and how to get there and what to do, etc, while others are playing a variety of musical genres at break-neck tempos in every possible key, or hanging fixtures from atop of a fifteen foot ladder and programming scenes in both incandescent and LED atmospheres.
Please mark your calendars to attend one of our four shows that are taking place nightly from Thursday, November 21st to Saturday, November 23rd, at 7:00pm in the Fountain Performing Arts Centre. There is also a Saturday matinee at 2:00pm. Tickets can be secured by calling the School (902-798-2278, ext 3593), emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or purchased at the door.
Here are a few ensemble pictures from yesterday’s rehearsal, as well as a couple of cute 'theatre nerd' images that sum up the present attitude of those about to take to the stage. There is a first draft picture of the poster too but some small changes might be made before we distribute them about the town and surrounding communities.
If you can't wait to see live theatre, and just in time for Halloween, Quick As A Wink Theatre Society http://qaaw.ca/tickets/ is putting on Dracula again this weekend in our theatre, featuring our own Mr. David Foley playing the role of Seward. Be prepared to be scared to bits.
You’ll find countless opportunities to express your artistic interests at our School. The Arts make up one of the essential four pillars of a King’s-Edgehill School education.
