Choose to Challenge

Choose to Challenge

Last Monday, KES and the world celebrated International Women’s Day. This day not only celebrates women’s achievements but also highlights the existing inequality that women fight worldwide. This year’s campaign theme was “Choose to Challenge”.

Because of this, students wrote on paper what they could do to contribute to a more equal world. Every contribution was then added to our board, and the result was astonishing! By lunchtime, most of the board was covered with amazing ideas that were rich in diversity. Examples included goals like “work to support other women through encouragement and respect”, to demands as “men and women should get equal payments for work” and all the way to becoming the first female prime minister. Others chose to write about amazing women who have inspired them in their lives so far or women who they want to learn about.

These ideas showed that there is a lot that every single one of us can do, no matter the gender, to fight for a more equal society and world.
