Inside King's-Edgehill School

COVID-19 Preventative Measures

image2When inside any building on campus, or at any time where social distance cannot be maintained, a mask must be worn. Please review proper mask wearing etiquette with your child. The week prior to the start of school it is recommended to have your child practice wearing a mask for long stretches at a time.

The School will provide one KES mask per student and will also sell masks at the School Store. Students may bring their own mask from home (please make sure mask material does not depict inappropriate images or advertising).

There will be increased hand sanitization stations around the School and at the door of every classroom. Encouragement, reminders, and increased signage will promote effective and frequent handwashing for all. Please review proper hand washing etiquette with your child prior to the start of the school year.

Cleaning spray bottles in each room will allow for desk and chair surface cleaning following each use. Repeated cleanings of all high-touch surfaces in School buildings as well as nightly deep cleaning will be part of the daily maintenance routine.

Students and staff will not gather in large groups. Fortunately, at KES, our class sizes are already relatively small. For chapel, assembly, meals, sports, and other activities, students will be divided into smaller groups. Students and teachers will be encouraged to use outdoor spaces when possible. Provincial guidelines for social gatherings will be followed.

Garbage cans will be placed near/outside washroom doors, reducing the direct touching of high contact surfaces like door handles as one exits the washroom.

COVID-19 Screening Procedures

All day students will report directly to the basement level of the Athletic Centre upon arrival in the morning. Each will complete a health questionnaire and have body temperature and oxygen saturation levels measured and recorded. Once completed without issue, students will proceed up the stairs and exit the front door of the Athletic Centre to begin their academic day. All off-campus staff will also be tested daily in designated locations.

Day students and staff may not enter any other School buildings until this daily screening is completed.

Boarding students and campus staff will be screened daily using a COVID-19 questionnaire.

We have put together a comprehensive document, School Opening Plan for 2020-2021, a document, that has been sent to all students and parents, download your copy here.
