Please join us for our Annual IB Art Exhibition Opening Night Reception on Thursday, April 2, 2020. Each week until our big day, I will feature select IB Art students and their work so you can enjoy a sneak peak of their favourite pieces.ib art3

Madison "Maddy" Magee has attended KES for two years and is from Toronto, Ontario.
I have chosen this sculpture as my favourite because it helped me decide the theme for my work. Plus, it was the first time that I had worked on a clay sculpture. My theme of the sculpture is the objectivity of women's bodies. I have carried this theme throughout my IB artwork using different media.
Future plans: I plan to study Political Science at Carlton University.

IB art2Victor Moreno Del Valle has attended KES for two years and is from Madrid, Spain.
I have chosen this chalk pastel drawing as one of my favourites because I enjoy drawing the human anatomy and I also like working with chalk pastels. I wanted to do this drawing in black and white to emphasis the tonal quality and the form of the torso using high contrast lights.
Future Plans: I plan to study Business at Dalhousie University.

ib art 4Madison “Madi” Taijaard has attended KES for six year (a lifer) and is from Fall River, Nova Scotia.
I have chosen this painting because of the technique that I used, and it is the painting that I am most proud. I feel the message is very positive of being wild and free. This was the first time that I experimented with the palette knife which was used for the texture. I also had planned to use monochromatic colours to emphasize the figure and the movement.
Future plans: I plan to study for a Bachelor of Arts, Science and Health at Saint Francis University.
