Pandemic Public Service Announcements!

Anytime there has been a global event on such a mass scale, it has not been unusual to see public service announcements and propaganda spread around the country. The war we are currently fighting against COVID-19 is no exception. Our Grade 7 Social Studies classes have taken a short break from their regular curriculum to learn a bit about historical propaganda that was popular during both World Wars, followed by making an important connection to our present global situation.

Pandemic Public Service Announcements!

Many of the Canadian posters from WWI and WWII would feature common phrases like "Come on, Canada!" and "Join the Team!" Drawing on inspiration from popular propaganda posters from Canada's war history, students created posters to spread positive messages from coast to coast to coast. Sometimes, it is difficult not knowing how to help in ways other than just staying home. However, all the messages from our Grade 7 students are strong:
  • "Stay home so everyone can."
  • "Yes We Can Defeat Covid 19."
  • "Wash Your Hands."
  • "Stay the Blazes Home!"
  • "6 Feet Away must you Stay or Pay the Price of Great Dismay!"
Enjoy the posters!

There's more fun, fields and friends waiting for you here at KES! Find out more about a typical day in our downloadable photojournal, A Day in the Life of a King's-Edgehill School Day Student.
