Inside King's-Edgehill School

Reflection and Contemplation by Ro de la Peña Cortizo

large_news1335762_1345429No doubt the majority of you who are reading this Newsletter and this article are from outside our province of Nova Scotia. Such is the case for our Grade 11 IB Music student Rodrigo, from Cancun, Mexico. You may have seen Ro featured in the Headmaster's Newsletter some time ago as well.

This is the time for uploads of Solo and Group Performances to conclude the requirements for the IB Music certificate. Students have been working on their repertoire for months leading up to this point. I would like to offer you an opportunity to hear one of Rodrigo's submissions. In my mind it covers a breadth of emotion, including dissonance, consonance, and a hint of large_news1335762_1345430excitement with anticipation. On the heels of all things that have taken place recently in Nova Scotia and around the globe, I think this performance will enable individuals to take a moment to interpret this piece of music as one sees fit emotionally. For the record, I see success in Rodrigo's quest to score well in his IB solo performance certificate, and for NS and the world to appreciate what we're going through and how we will eventually overcome each challenge with some speculation but moreover, anticipation of better days ahead .
