Inside King's-Edgehill School

RoboGolf and BottleSumo at Robofest

On Sunday, February 16, the King’s-Edgehill School Robotics team travelled to Acadia University to take part in Robofest, a tournament based out of Laurence Technological University in Southfield, Michigan, USA. Thirty-eight teams from across Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island competed in a game entitled “RoboGolf”. In this game, students were required to design, construct and program autonomous robots to carry out a series of tasks in under 2 minutes. Tasks included such challenges as shooting golf balls into a hole and knocking over water bottles. I am very pleased to announce the following results for King’s-Edgehill School:

1st place overall: Angela Du, Aaron Lu and Annie Yu
3rd place: Benson Lin, Lonnie Luo and River Qi
5th place: Runzhe Yan, Will Zhao and Victor Zhou
7th place: Stacey Ao and John Fan

KES-4
In addition to these excellent results, in the afternoon Edward Chang placed 3rd out of 16 teams in a game called “BottleSumo”. In this game, in order to win, robots had to be the first to knock either a bottle or the other team’s robot off the table.

My congratulations go out to this outstanding group of students!
