Mar/28/2021 Although the ski training season looked different this year due to a warm winter weather pattern combined with the effects of COVID-19, the team enjoyed skiing and training together whenever they could. Our athletes learned to deal with varying conditions and varying temperatures throughout the season, including a few glorious days of fresh powder, some spring skiing conditions, and even a few rain days on snow.  The team worked on individual ski technique improvement and gate training, edge control, dynamic movement, tucks, tuck turns, starts, skating, and finishes.  We even had the good fortune to pull together one regional race which was held at Martock!    **Here are the notable results our KES student athletes earned:**   **Individual Intermediate Girls:** 1st – Lily Sidorchuk 2nd – Lucy Goddard 4th – Molly Singer   **Individual Senior Girls:** 2nd – Paige Fraser 3rd – Rachel Griffith 5th – Hannah Koppernaes   ![Ski Season Ends with a Regional Race!](https://blog.kes.ns.ca/hs-fs/hubfs/1-Mar-26-2021-05-31-10-69-PM.png?width=600&name=1-Mar-26-2021-05-31-10-69-PM.png)   **Individual Junior Boys:** 2nd – Westin Andres   **Individual Senior Boys:** 1st – Mitchell Larkin 3rd – Ben Bednara 4th – Alden Mulherin 5th – Carter Short   ![Ski Season Ends with a Regional Race!](https://blog.kes.ns.ca/hs-fs/hubfs/2-Mar-26-2021-05-31-11-04-PM.png?width=600&name=2-Mar-26-2021-05-31-11-04-PM.png)   **Other Interesting Notes:** Both **Kevin Bai** and **Victor Zhou** had a rough second run, so did not earn a combined time.  However, their first runs were wonderful – Kevin had the 3rd fastest Senior Boys’ time in first run (only behind our own racers, Mitchell and Carter) and Victor had the 4th fastest Senior Boys’ time in that first run.  It will be exciting to see what these boys can do next year!   Fastest female racer of the day – **Lily!** (and 2nd fastest racer altogether). Fastest male racer of the day – **Mitchell!** (and fastest racer altogether).   Every rookie racer (**Molly Singer, Hannah Koppernaes, Harrison Kim, Thane Morgan, Karl Hitzbleck, Owen Seely, **and** Forrest Robinson**) completed both runs of the race successfully!  Congratulations on your first race!   There were no Regional Banners up for grabs this year, but if there would have been, we would have come home with three – Intermediate Girls, Senior Girls, and Senior Boys.   A big thank you goes out to our leadership team:  **Mitchell, Carter, Lucy, Paige, **and** Lily**.
