The 254 Starts Spring Training

The 254 Starts Spring Training

The winter white, frost and freezing rain are now behind us.  The Corps is back on Jakeman Field as the spring is upon us.  The 254 is back in action.  We immediately launched into some intensive drill training to rid ourselves of the rust of winter.  Mistakes were made all around and then the drills kicked in and the Corps stood up and marched.  Of course, the ceremonial season is upon us, so it was time to learn a new movement.

The Corps tried their hands at left and right turns on the march.  Now this is no easy movement as it is high level ceremonial.  Not only were the Cadets able to learn it, but the senior Cadets who had just learned it, were able to teach it.  Immediately following the drill, the Corps entered a Platoon level competition covering all aspects of Cadet training to date.  They lit fires, chopped wood, ran the beep test, read maps, etc.  Ultimately 7 Platoon, under the guidance of Warrant Officer Will Ahern was victorious.  They have earned themselves a pizza party and bragging rights in the Corps.
