The 2018 King’s-Edgehill ESL Camp was a great success this year. The students settled into residence nicely, made new friends, practiced their English and visited many beautiful destinations in Nova Scotia and P.E.I. What a wonderful group of students this year.
Tuesday and Wednesday the students had an exciting visit to Ontree and Rissers Beach. We celebrated Maria’s birthday on Wednesday. The students didn’t want to eave the zip line park!

The students got to experience fishing in Canada. We had a short hike and fished in a nearby lake. Unfortunately we didn’t catch any fish because it was such a hot day. Hopefully some enjoyed it enough to try again during the regular school year when the fishing is better. We also played on the waterslide and drove mini race cars.

Welcome to the King’s-Edgehill School International Summer School Program.
Despite the heavy rain, everyone settled into their new rooms with smiles on their faces. After a campus tour and lunch we headed to the athletic centre to play some entertaining ‘get to know you’ games lead by Janice Kleiner.

The students have been making friends, studying hard and visiting a variety of Nova Scotia’s attractions. We enjoyed an educational walking tour of Oak Island, had a shopping trip at Mic Mac Mall, went swimming and fishing at Aylesford Lake, and raced around the track at the Windsor Playland. The TOEFL Junior Assessment has been completed and results should be in soon. Students will perform in a variety show this afternoon and classes will conclude tomorrow. We are heading back to Oak Island for a few days and will have the pleasure of sailing on the Bluenose II, ocean kayaking off Lunenburg and touring the Ovens Provincial Park.

A little golf and visiting a Canadian Favourite, Tim Hortons, sounds like a good day in Nova Scotia.

Every evening students get together after classes and excursions to burn off some energy on the basketball court or on the soccer field. Tonight we will have a bonfire.

The camp has been running for almost a week and we have enjoyed a variety of activities. We have gone bowling, tried zip lining at Ontree, toured Halifax on the Harbour Hopper, visited the Citadel, and had a tour of Haliburton House. The students have completed the math assessment and the speaking and writing components of the English assessment. Classes in the morning have helped the students warm up their writing, listening, public speaking, reading comprehension, and science lab skills.
