Biathlon Gold for Madi Taljaard

Madi Taljaard won two GOLD medals this past weekend at the Nova Scotia Biathlon Provincials which were held in PEI. In the sprint race on Saturday, she finished 8 minutes ahead of the second-place finisher, missing only three shots. With her hard work and determination, she was able to finish on top against 10 other athletes, and she hopes to score a spot at Nationals in March. Congratulations, Madi!

Lucas Gimenez and Jiahuan (Edward) He also had a great weekend. With limitations by the lack of snow, these two fought hard and accomplished the goals they had set before the race. Lucas competed as a Senior Male athlete, skiing 4.5km for the sprint race on Saturday and 7.5km for Sunday’s pursuit. Out of a field of 13 athletes, Lucas was able to finish with a strong 9th place on Saturday. Edward competed as a Youth Male racing 6km on Saturday and 10km on Sunday. With an unlucky mistake, he was sadly disqualified during Saturday’s race. That being said, he fought hard to finish in great time on Sunday with lots of cheers and applause waiting as he crossed the finish line. Congrats to them both!
