Cadet Ball 2019

The Annual Cadet Ball is a spectacular event at King’s-Edgehill School. This year was no exception due to the efforts of many dedicated people. I am so thankful for the support given to the Corps. Right from the start, we had the much needed involvement from the staff at Marshall House, in particular Ms Kathy Bonang and Ms Jenn Shaw. These two fine ladies coordinated notices out to faculty and parents. Within the Cadet office, Ms Morgaine Sullivan maintained the file detailing attendees and guests. This is no mean feat as there are always last minute people who have selected a date and finally found the courage to ask the young man or lady.

Of course, there is no point in having a ball if no one knows the dance movements. This year we called upon the multi-talented Sarah Bell and Ms Stephanie Cumming. Between these two extraordinary dancers, they staged dance lessons for the students that were amazing and lots of fun.

Everybody finally got their ducks in a row and the day of the event came. Mr Jeff Smith’s Big Valley Swing Band once again provided fabulous music for the evening. The space looked amazing due to the efforts of Ms Sandy Stewart. Ms Stewart can take any area, use her great talents and turn it into a dream world. What an amazing lady and a true supporter of the cause.

This year I received a very fine comment from the orchestra. They really like to play for the Cadet Ball because the students are so charged up on the floor, not afraid to try new movements and just thoroughly enjoy the experience. What more could one ask for? What a great way to end the Cadet Year.

Don’t worry though, 11 September 2019 is fast approaching. Wednesdays -- the best day of the week!

At King's-Edgehill School, weekly cadet activities are varied and include much more than marching and drills. Your child will learn lifelong skills such as first aid or spend a fun-filled afternoon ziplining. Download the Cadet Corps PhotoJournal for more information.
