Christine wangGrade 11 student, Jialan "Christine" Wang arrived at King's-Edgehill School from Nanjing, China, for the start of the school year and quickly became involved in our music programme. She is a first chair flautist in our concert and cadet bands, and she has also been a featured solo and duo instrumentalist at various special events. Her most recent performance was last Wednesday for our annual Cultural Fair variety show where she played a beautiful rendition of a piece (click here) that our Culture Committee Chair, Grade 12 student, Jiacheng "Denny" introduced the following way:
渔舟唱晚 Song of Fishing Boat at the Dusk is a rather classical style of Guzheng music. The song describes some of the vast expanse of water, beautiful scene of fishing with the fishermen carefree and content, wave gradually far. This song is since 1930s, the most influential song Guzheng solo spread in Chinese. Song of Fishing Boat at the Dusk is the theme Song for the 中国中央电视台天气预报CCTV Weather Forecast since 1984. It has deeply imprinted in all Chinese people’s hearts. Christine plays this music piece using flute. Enjoy.
