By presenting this body of work, I hope to express what is most important to me, whether it be my artistic journey, my family or my culture. I hope to share things that I love and hold very dear to my heart in the hope of bringing out great memories in anybody who views my artwork. Being an international student from Kuwait, I have chosen to depict some key aspects of my culture that I find truly beautiful in order to share what I love with people who may not understand or know about my culture. I have often been asked many questions about my country and culture, yet at the same time have often been faced with prejudice. I am hoping that my artwork will show the aspects of my culture that I love and allow the audience to have an insight into Kuwait.

The pieces of art that are on exhibition have been composed by way of a variety of artistic techniques, which have all ultimately helped me improve as an artist and fed my passion for art. However, by observing different artists I have learnt how the way in which you depict your image, truly affects the message that you want to explain. The main ideas that have been explored in my artwork are about sentimentality, with respect to my artistic career, my family and my culture. Therefore, I used great levels of depth and colour in my artwork in order to accurately portray my vibrant Middle Eastern culture and recreate the image in my mind to the best of my ability. For most of these pieces, it was my first time experimenting with the medium, for example, chalk or watercolours. By using these mediums for the first time I was able to effectively experiment and grow as an artist.

The way in which I exhibited my artwork greatly contributes to the meanings I am trying to convey to the audience. I chose to use vibrant colours and create a lot of dimension in my pieces in order to attract the attention of the audience to make them want to take the time to observe my artwork. I did this as the topics that I used as motivation for my artwork mean a lot to me and I am trying to express these meaningful moments to the public. Thus, I want the audience to be attracted to my work so that they will take the time to truly appreciate what I have designed.
