Kai Smart - Determined to be Successful

zoom_news1350545_1355615Kai Smart came to us in Grade 11 having already studied at a few schools for students with learning differences. At KES, our plan with Kai was to strengthen the strategies she had already acquired and to add new ones as necessary, while attending mainstream classes with the goal of acceptance at the university of her choice. Kai quickly established her role as one of our hardest working students as she determinedly demonstrated her capabilities.  Kai earned honours grades in each term at KES; I think her effort took her even farther than she thought she could go. It has been a highlight of my career to work with Kai and to see her flourish. She is keen to share her story to encourage students with learning differences and teachers who work with them. A learning difference does not stop you from accomplishing your dreams. We are very proud to share an article about Kai that was featured in the Royal Gazette in Bermuda.

"By publishing this story, I wanted this message sent to all of those here in Bermuda who has a learning disability--because teachers and parents here doubt those kind of people. I wanted to make a change to the education system in my country, and I finally did. Thank you!" - Kai Smart
