Making Others Smile

Making Others Smile

On November 11th, some of our youngest students had a little extra time on their hands while their peers prepared for the Remembrance Day ceremonies on campus.  They were looking for a little something creative to do with their time, and I asked if they might like to write some letters to brighten the day of someone else.  Several of them jumped on the opportunity.  With careful hand-lettering, colourful drawings in the margins, and lots of stickers, detailed full-page personal letters were written to members of the Kings Meadow Community.  I dropped them off on my way home that afternoon.

To my sheer delight, I found several cards in my mailbox this week!  Their residents were delighted to have received our letters, and they signed cards to send back to us.  Pictured here are Owen, Isabella and Laura with their cards, and I am holding envelopes for Maanvi and Danielle for when they are able to return to campus.  Sometimes we forget that it’s the little things that make someone else smile; I’m so proud of these students and their enthusiasm for volunteering.
