Provincial Win in CEMC Waterloo Math Contests!

The Pascal (Grade 9), Cayley (Grade 10) and Fermat (Grade 11) Waterloo Math Contests were held on February 25th and written by 82 King’s-Edgehill School students!

Presentations for our KES Mathletes were made at our April 8th School Assembly. Certificates of Distinction are awarded to those scoring in the upper 25% of all contestants worldwide, and a medal is awarded to the highest scoring student in our School.

KES Results for the Grade 9 Pascal Contest:
  • 1st – Xubo (Phil) Xia – also placed 9th in Nova Scotia out of 753 students
  • Tie for 2nd – Weizhe (Alan) Xu and Zhiyu (Zara) Yang – they also placed 14th in NS
  • 4th – Zach Logan
In addition, the top three scores from each school are added together to make the team score. The team of Phil, Alan, and Zara placed 4th in Nova Scotia out of 26 schools!

KES Results for the Grade 10 Cayley Contest:
  • 1st – Miyu Seto
KES Results for the Grade 11 Fermat Contest:
  • 1st – Yi (Edward) Chang – also placed 2nd in NS out of 354 students
  • 2nd – Haichuan (River) Qi – also placed 6th in NS
  • 3rd – Zhao (Will) Xiling – also placed 13th in NS
  • 4th – Yuxi (Lonnie) Luo – also placed 14th in NS
  • 5th – Zien (Victor) Zhou
  • Tie for 6th – Jiahe (Aaron) Lu and Jing Wang
In addition, the team of Edward, River, and Will placed 1st in Nova Scotia in the Grade 11 Fermat Contest which makes them Provincial Champions!
