Inside King's-Edgehill School

And then there were 5!

And then there were 5While many students at KES had originally made other plans for their March break, in this day of frequently altered plans, Weizhe (Alan), Tianze (Eric), Chengyu, Hyunseo (Harrison), and Frederik all came to stay at my home in Falmouth. I was a bit concerned, under the restrictions in Nova Scotia, about how to make the March break a pleasant time for 5 teenage boys, but it wasn’t so hard in the end. The daily news kept us in alter-your-plans-mode, but we managed to eat-out, in the first few days, as the only guests in a Chinese hot pot restaurant. Frederik wasn’t sure if he’d make it as the meal was super spicy. He was a trooper though and lived to tell the tale. Thankfully, Peggy’s Cove is a wide-open area that was still accessible when we went. We had a chance for some exercise and fresh air and rock skipping in the small pools of water. Blomidon beach was cold, but interesting with its quick tides and high cliffs. One morning we got 30 cm (instead of the forecasted 10 cm!) of heavy wet snow… perfect for making a snowman! Don’t ever gamble at cards with Hyunseo. In his first time playing the game elimination, he got back on the bus in two different rounds with the ace of spades and then went on to win the game. Then there was food, food, and more food. Teenage boys can eat a lot! The boys were very polite and appreciative of all that we were able to do while doing our part to stay away from many of the venues we had planned to visit. I would take them as houseguests again any day.
