One of our favorite annual traditions at King's-Edgehill School is fast approaching – We are delighted to announce that this year's Homecoming Weekend celebration will be held on September 18th, beginning in the evening hours. KES honours our alumni, Grade Twelve students, Grade Twelve parents, and staff each year with interesting speakers, receptions, a banquet, and top-notch entertainment in intimate settings on campus.
Why do we love Homecoming Weekend so much? This is one time of the year that all of our students, parents, and staff, past and present, can convene to reminisce and reacquaint. Childhood friendships are re-stoked; memories and laughter are shared. KES alumni are more like a family than a collection of former students, after all; the personal touch is a tradition we hold dear at the oldest independent school in the British Commonwealth.
Each year, we use this chance to catch up on each other’s lives and foster community. We'll discuss this past year's personal successes, our career ventures, current events, our families, our recent travels and our proud accomplishments, all while enjoying food, drink, and impeccable entertainment.
At KES, we value more than just a top-notch education; we strive to build long lasting friendships, networking opportunities between our students and their favourite faculty and staff. Though modern technology ensures that we are able to keep in touch throughout the year, we understand that nothing cements our connections like sharing an evening of fun, spirit and camaraderie during the Homecoming Weekend.
This year, as in the past, we will start our evening at the Headmaster's Home for a reception, then we'll be piped over to the Dining Hall for our annual banquet. During the meal, we'll hear from several speakers and entertainers, and then be treated to dessert. Finally, we will cap the night off with hours of music and dancing from Signal Hill, the four-man acoustic rock band that brought down the house during last year's Homecoming Day concert and dance. During the dance, which will take place in the Athletic Center, a cash bar will be available.
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2015 – Everyone is invited
11:00 am ~ Jakeman Field, Terry Fox Run/Walk - Come join the KES family (only 5 km!).
1:00 pm ~ KES Quad, Free BBQ - Our students will be entertaining us with their musical talents.
Please email Heather, Kathy or Judy if you have any questions. Come join the fun!
We hope that this year's attendance will include record numbers of alumni, parents, faculty and staff. We eagerly anticipate the arrivals of all of the individuals who have helped to make KES the special place that it is.
