Big Wins at Regional Science Fair

After a very successful School science fair, a number of our students were chosen to represent KES at the Regional level.  This year’s fair was a little different due to COVID-19 restrictions.  Each student created a 5-7 minute video presentation of their board to the judges, and uploaded this video and their research papers to the Regional website.  The results are in and I’m very excited to share with you how well our students have done!
 
Anthony Wheeler (Grade 6) = Gold Medallion
 
Bristol Quinn (Grade 6) = Gold Medallion, Best “Resources” Project at the Fair
 
Fox Sullivan (Grade 9) = Bronze Medallion
 
Sabine Wellard (Grade 9) = Silver Medallion
 
Rendi Ashley (Grade 9) = Silver Medallion
 
Danica Scully (Grade 9) = Gold Medallion, Canadian Federation of University Women Award (for a project that with minor changes would be of National calibre)
 
Vincent Armstrong (Grade 8) = Gold Medallion, Engineers NS Award ($50), Rogers Innovation Award ($100), Best “Innovation” Project at the Fair, Best Project Overall at the Fair

In addition to his numerous individual awards, Vincent has also earned a spot to participate at the National Science Fair in Ottawa from May 17-21.  This will be a virtual event this year, and we wish him luck as he prepares for this exciting opportunity!
