In recognition of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee, the West Hants Regional Municipality and King’s-Edgehill School hosted a special event on Thursday, June 2, honouring Her Majesty’s 70 years of service. The event, which was held at Convocation Hall, brought together a variety of dignitaries and community stakeholders.
Event attendees included His Honour the Honourable Arthur J. LeBlanc, Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia, Her Honour Mrs. Patsy LeBlanc, MP Kody Blois, His Worship Mayor Abraham Zebian, and MLA Melissa Sheehy-Richard.
Throughout the Commonwealth, town criers delivered tributes to Her Majesty at 2:00 pm. Lloyd Smith, North America’s longest serving town crier, delivered the proclamation in front of Convocation Hall.
The 254 King's-Edgehill School Highland Cadet Corps played a major role throughout the event, forming a ceremonial Honour Guard in recognition of the momentous occasion. Members of the 254 that partook in the event include:
As the ceremony came to a close, Major Keith Hynes, Commanding Officer of the 254 King's-Edgehill School Highland Cadet Corps, addressed his troops, congratulating them on a job well done. As an added surprise, Sedona, Hannah, and Paige also received promotions to the rank of Warrant Officer!
