I want to take this opportunity to extend our most sincere thanks to Ms. Eileen (Fountain) Richardson (1964-68) for her generous contribution to our King’s-Edgehill School Performing Arts Programme; most specifically, the theatre microphone system.
Her generous donation has enabled us to replace our out-dated and very tired wireless microphone system. Recently, the CRTC took away most of the UHF frequencies that have been used for wireless microphones and designated them for digital use. This transition began with digital TV a number of years ago. The situation is that many more digital signals can operate in a frequency range, and with the growing number of cell phones and wireless devices, it is more efficient and an absolute need. The specific frequency range of our original UHF setup has now been allocated to digital emergency communication systems. Very soon, it will be unlawful to operate UHF signals in these frequency ranges.
Our new twenty channel system of Shure QLX-D digital wireless microphones gives us more capability, keeps us in accordance with the law and, prevents us from interfering with important emergency communications. KES is most fortunate to have the kind financial support of so many alumni and friends! These pictures don’t do justice to the capable technology that this equipment provides, so, I ask you to consider for a moment, what can your cell phone do? This microphone system is professional quality audio equipment, designed to meet exceedingly high demands of today’s world; “it’s the bomb”! Grateful are we.
