For the Week of September 14 – 20
Senior Girl: Aria MacDonald ~ The last time Aria ran a 5km course was in October of 2019 in Belfast, Maine, where she was one of 250 high school girls on the same start line in a race of over 900 females. The electricity and excitement of that race cannot be underestimated, and it led to a personal best. Being a day student, Aria could not celebrate the Terry Fox run on campus. Instead, she ran completely alone Sunday on a 5km pavement course near her house. Running alone isn't new for Aria as that's all she's done, day in and day out since March. Racing the clock today, Aria ran very close to her personal best, which is remarkable given that no one was cheering her, and no one was pushing her faster. Congratulations, Aria!
Senior Boy: Francois Richard ~ With no cross-country races on the calendar, to this point in the season, and the Terry Fox route moved to our home cross country course, this was a great opportunity for the 2020 Francois to compare himself to the 2019 Francois. After missing his spring track season and no summer season to speak of, coming anywhere close to his time from 12 months ago would be amazing, yet, even without anyone pushing him, Francois ran 10 seconds faster than his time from last year. Congratulations, Francois!
