One event King’s-Edgehill School Senior Students look forward to is the opportunity to tour a university campus. Every other year, a limited group of students have an opportunity to travel to Ontario to visit a number of universities.
This past spring, students in Grades 11 and 12 during the 2018-19 school year had the opportunity to sign up for this year’s Ontario University Tour. A university campus visit allows a student to experience the learning environment, to see the dorms and to walk around campus. As well, if there are KES alumni available, students have the chance to meet them and ask questions.
This year, the trip takes place from September 30th to October 3rd, 2018.
This year’s tour itinerary includes Guelph, Waterloo, Western, McMaster, and University of Toronto. The trip will also include a visit to the Ontario University Fair where there will be representatives and presentations from all 21 Ontario Universities.
Students who have signed up are encouraged to prepare for their trip by preparing a checklist of information they wish to obtain during their tour. We also encourage them to pick up any official university material that is relevant to them, such as brochures, financial aid forms, information about athletic programming, etc.
Students will visit all campuses on the tour so they can see for themselves what the school environment and atmosphere is truly like. Finding the right university is not just about finding the best education, it is the place a student will call home for three, four or more years!
Following the university tour, we encourage our students to discuss the experience with their advisor as well as with their parents. We understand the importance of choosing the right university. And while we may not be able to visit all of the universities our students are interested in, they are encouraged to look at virtual tours, blogs and other information regarding various universities to assist them in their decision-making process.
The wonderful thing about striving to be more is that you never know where you might end up. Through our International Baccalaureate Programme, our students are able to pursue post-secondary education almost anywhere in the world. Download our IB Guidebook here.
