Our third Emerging Leader is Grade 9 student,
Sadie Junger from Hantsport, Nova Scotia. Although in just her first year at King’s-Edgehill, Sadie has quickly established herself as an empathetic and engaged leader who is passionate about many important causes. Sadie’s interest in mobilizing others has been put on display at Junior Assembly where she spoke to her peers and our staff on behalf of our School’s environment club: The Green Team.
Sadie’s academic acumen is contagious. Recently, she also stepped forward to perform a piano solo at our annual Advent Service of Lessons and Psalms.
What does Leadership mean to you?
Leadership is the ability to guide others to do what they need to do.
In your opinion, what makes a good leader?
A good leader ensures they know how the group or individual they are working with operates. By doing this they can better support and push them towards accomplishing their goal.
Are there challenges to being a leader at a young age?
Yes, because sometimes older people don’t take younger people seriously and younger people don’t always pay as much attention so that can make it difficult to create change.
What words would people use to describe your leadership style?
Quiet, focused, determined.
Who do you look up to when it comes to leadership?
Not one person, per se, but rather I tend to look at times when other people have struggled with leadership and think of how I could have done things differently if I were in that situation
What are your goals for the year?
Keep my grades up and meet new people who have the same academic motivation and desire to be engaged in our community.
