November 30th marked our 3rd annual King's-Edgehill Invitational Debate Tournament with an incredible turn out of over 10 different local and international high schools and over 80 debaters from Grades 7-12. Students tackled an array of challenging topics showing incredible ability to analyze the impacts and factors involved in a resolution. What sets this tournament apart is that the intention is to provide an opportunity for community and connection among the provinces’ debate teams as well as providing an opportunity for feedback and growth with open adjudication. The buzz of chatter between rounds and the engaging dialogue between debaters and judges was exactly what we hoped to create.
Congratulations to Aitana and Sebastian, Sachaa and Will, Isadora and Kristiana for competing in their first tournament! My thanks to Henry for stepping in last minute for a Junior 1/2 team from another school that needed partnership. It was great also to have Cameron and Alden competing for the first time this season - - good to have you back boys!
Congratulations to Vincent and Alex who took home a 4th place finish in the Junior Division, and to Noah and William who took home a 5th place finish in the Senior Division. Grace and Thane are leading the charge for KES this term, again in the top 3, with a 3rd place team finish. Well done representing King's-Edgehill so well!
My thanks again to the faculty and families who joined us. It is with your support that these events succeed, and we truly could not have created this opportunity without your participation and so, our warmest thanks.
