This week at Assembly, we recognized our Senior Varsity Captains from the Fall term. Each student-athlete was selected by their respective teams because of the leadership they displayed both in and out of their athletic arenas.
Each Captain was awarded a Captain’s Pin which is worn on the School uniform to be an outward display of their leadership roles. The design of the Captain’s Pin is symbolic as it includes our athletic crest bordered by laurel branches. In ancient Greece, laurel wreaths were given to the victors of athletic competitions and were even used in the Olympics long before medals of gold, silver and bronze were awarded. Moreover, this is where the adage “don’t rest on your laurels” is derived. When our Captains wear their Captain’s Pin, they too are reminded to not be content with their past successes but to continue pushing themselves to achieve new goals.
Below is a list of each of our Fall Captains with a brief comment from their coaches.
