Just as it seems to be most autumns, King’s-Edgehill is again well represented on the U Sport’s Women’s Rugby circuit. This season five of our alumnae donned their university’s colours and competed at the varsity level. Three former King’s-Edgehill teammates [Morgan Rogers (2013-18), Kenzie Cecchetto (2014-18), and Alex Ondo (2014-16)] are again teammates for the nationally 6th ranked Ottawa Gee Gees. Rogers, Cecchetto, and Ondo were captains of our team here at KES in their respective senior seasons. The former Prep Hockey stars Rogers and Cecchetto are entering their second year while Ondo, our former female athlete of the year, enters her fourth year of study. Closer to home at Saint Mary’s, another former KES captain and Biathlon standout, Katrena Thomas (2009-16), suits up for the Huskies alongside Heather Stanton (2016-18) who made the switch from track and field to rugby when she came to KES in Grade 11.
These five students join the ever-growing list of KES alumnae to make the jump to the varsity level. What’s more impressive is the vast majority of these fantastic athletes only learned the game here at King’s-Edgehill. As has been the case in the past, these recent alumnae provide an excellent model for our current student-athletes to follow as they begin to think about their academic and athletic futures.
Achievements like this make parents so proud! We find that most parents of King's-Edgehill students are happy to help out whenever they can, and are eager to answer any questions prospective parents might have.
