Teacher-Prefect Swap

Student-Teacher Swap - 2980736.jpgAt King's-Edgehill School we realize there are very few things that are as important to success as leadership. All of our students are encouraged to take on leadership roles and develop a skill set that will help them through their college years and into their chosen profession. Students at King's-Edgehill School who become involved in opportunities such as our Steward and Prefect leadership programme see many long term benefits.

When Grade 12 student and prefect  Josh Dupigny first approached me with the idea of doing a “Teacher-Prefect Swap” for a day, I wasn’t sure how it would go over. Would teachers be open to doing it? Would students take it seriously? Well, I need not have worried. The day was super successful all around. Deputy Headmaster Jill Miller and Headmaster Tristan Kimball did an amazing job keeping things rolling at morning assembly. While the atmosphere was fun and light, they also made sure all announcements and important messages were delivered. During the morning, I had an opportunity to peek in on a few classes, and it was evident that the students had put a great deal of effort into planning their lessons. It was also great fun to have them join us in the staff room for our break meeting (and an introduction to our brand new coffee machine)! All-in-all, it was lovely to work side-by-side with such a great group of students. I would not be surprised if some have found a future career path in education!
