Who Are You Running For?

zoom_news1362415_1362862The 40th Anniversary Terry Fox Run is only a day away.  On Sunday, September 20th, we may be apart, but we will be united in the spirit of Terry Fox.  It is a sad reality that we all know someone who is battling cancer.  Statistics from the Canadian Cancer Society indicate that nearly 1 in 2 Canadians (45% of men and 43% of women) is expected to develop cancer during their lifetime.  Terry Fox is the face of hope for cancer research nationally and internationally.  We can make a difference for those who are faced with the challenge of a cancer diagnosis.  On Wednesday of this week, volunteers sterilized markers so students could write the names of family members and friends on our 2020 Terry Fox Dedication Board.  It didn’t take long before the large poster board was covered with names and hearts.

Here on our KES campus, we have our own cancer stories.  Judy DesRoches, our Head of Female Boarding and Administrative Assistant, has been an inspiration for our School community.  The mother of three was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019.  Her positive spirit and personal determination are recognized by all. Please click here for her inspiring story.  It is this kind of motivation that makes taking part in the Terry Fox Run on Sunday easy.

All students, staff and alumni can register for this year’s 40th Anniversary event by clicking on this direct Windsor/King’s-Edgehill link
It will be a “One Day. Your Way.” event, and I look forward to seeing the photos of students and their families walking, running, cycling or hiking their self-designed 5K routes.  Photos should be submitted to Monica Schafer, Director of Student Life on Sunday.

Thank you for your participation.
