King’s-Edgehill School Soccer Team to visit Barbados

Karen Moore, Associate Director of Admissions at KES, will be attending a Canadian Accredited Independent Sr Boys Div I Team photos - Liam Bonnor - 4573594.jpgSchools (CAIS) Boarding School Fair on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 from 5 pm – 8 pm at the Accra Beach Hotel in Barbados.  Karen will be meeting with current KES families and prospective families. For over 20 years, a group of CAIS Boarding Schools have been travelling to Barbados to meet with families who are interested in a Canadian boarding school education for their children.

This year, Karen will be travelling to Barbados with our KES soccer team. This unique opportunity stems from the great relationship KES has with David Porter, who is the Director of Coaching at KickStart Football Club in St-Michael, Barbados. David’s daughter attends KES and because David runs a fantastic soccer club (better known as football in Barbados), he is looking forward to hosting the KES soccer team.

Our KES soccer team will not only play and train with David, but they will also have the opportunity to tour the Island and participate in water sports and a catamaran cruise.

Members of the KES soccer team will also be in attendance at the CAIS event, which is a great opportunity for interested students and families to meet current KES students and parents.

KES boarding students are from around the globe! There are many reasons our boarding students choose our School: academics, athletics, fine arts, leadership and extracurricular activities.

All KES students are given the opportunity to travel: locally, nationally as well as internationally. Last spring a group of students travelled to KES Europe/Africa visiting Madrid and Spain to partake in cultural activities; while our hockey team was touring and playing in Germany; and in 2016 a small group of KES students travelled to the Matonyok Orphanage in a Maasai Village by Lake Natron, Tanzania. While there, the students added two classrooms to the two built by KES students in 2013. Over the years our soccer teams have travelled to California, the US and the UK as well, you can read about their past trips with these links:  KES Invades California, Boys' Soccer Trip to New England and New York City, and KES Boys Soccer Trip to England

Interested in more about where KES students have travelled? Take a look at our Oh, the Places You'll Go! eBook, a Dr. Seuss inspired eBook that includes travel opportunities at our school.

We hope our KES soccer team enjoys their time at the KickStart Football Club and assisting with the CAIS Boarding School Fair in Barbados.  We look forward to welcoming new students from Barbados to our King’s-Edgehill School family.
